108th workout of the year, 10/31/2011.

Music: Little Feat. Jersey: Miami Dolphins, Larry Csonka.

Oh…the last body weight workout was pretty good.

This one, well, this one is devastating.

That is, unless you like doing burpees.

And nothing but burpees!

What’s a burpee you ask?

Well words don’t seem to really tell the entire story of the burpee.

You’ll have to watch the video.

We did an all burpee workout in the past.

This one was harder. Of course!

While watching you’ll notice that some people will be doing their version of a burpee during the variations.

Nothing wrong with that.

I’m not so much into how you do a burpee (or anything else) as long as you’re doing something!!

The Burpee Workout!

We did 12 different types of Burpees for 4 cycles.

The rep scheme was 10, 7, 5, 3.

  1. Regular Burpee
  2. Burpee on a Medicine Ball
  3. Burpee Shooting your feet onto a chair
  4. Burpees with a Push Up
  5. Burpees with a Full Squat and Jump
  6. Burpees with a Push Up on a Medicine Ball
  7. Burpees with a Jump Twist
  8. Burpees with Alternate Foot To Hand Push Up
  9. Burpees with Lunge Hops
  10. Burpees with Rotational Push Ups
  11. Burpees on Medicine Ball with a Ball Slam
  12. Burpees Flat on the Floor

And how many total burpees is that?

300!

I have been training for years and have always had access to gym equipment, but I have been working abroad the last 6 months and have not been able to get to a gym, I have been doing really intense bodyweight and burpee workouts as part of my interval training, doing the prison-style descending burpee ladder, and I must say I am probably in better shape now than I have been in a long time, all thanks to the burpee!
